HOMEPAGE

ICHTYS is a concise digital lexicon, with the aim to facilitate theological research and exegesis. It aspires to explain biblical and religious words and names, by placing them in their historical context and describing their etymological derivation and semantics. Focusing mainly on Christianity, it examines comparable views from other religions and philosophies too, and analyzes possible puns, allegories and metaphors, as well as cross-religious and mythological parallels, whilst adding valuable insights and commentaries.

The author studied Koine Greek at the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Leuven and Hebrew-Aramaic at the Theologicum of the Diocesan Seminar in Antwerp, both in Flanders, Belgium. An independent scholar of Christian theology, he has a special interest in exegesis and history, as well as in classical and oriental literature. He previously composed Thailex, a digital encyclopedic lexicon on Southeast Asian culture, and The Square Circle, a lexicon on Oriental religion and mythology.
