Leviticus or the Book of
Leviticus is the Latin title given to the third book of the Bible, as
well as to the third of the five books of the Pentateuch or Torah. Leviticus
derives from the Greek Leuitikos (Λευιτικός) and means ‘relating to the
Levites’, i.e. the tribe which is called after Levi, the third son of
Jacob and Leah, from whom the priests were drawn to serve in the Temple.
